Jen Burns visits John Bortey in the Plastic Surgery Unit, Accra, Jul 04Over a 2-year period a RPS team performed highly complex cranio-facial operations for the first time in West Africa to immeasurably improve John's quality of life.

His lower jaw has been returned to its original position; part of his hipbone has been used to rebuild his missing upper jaw.

He can now eat and speak normally, his appearance has been vastly improved and a final operation will improve appearance and function further .
