A 6 year old boy has been dragged along the road by a car with loss of skin on his foot and the bone exposed.
2 of 4 The wound has been thoroughly cleaned and all dead tissue removed. A "turn over" flap of skin and subcutaneous tissue is prepared on the lower leg proximal to the damaged foot.

The flap of tissue is hinged downwards and folded over, relying on small blood vessels from the muscle for its survival.

Skin grafts have been applied to all raw surfaces and a full recovery is anticipated.
