Case: Kwasi Boakye, Amasaman District, near Accra

The frequent occurrence of Buruli ulcer around the eyes cannot be explained.

Fortunately, this lesion did not, as feared, in Apr 05 cause loss of sight.

Kwasi, age 8, was released from the RSPB unit in Nov 05.

The photo below of my new October 2005 friends epitomises the type of cases treated in the plastic surgery unit:

Left back: traffic accident
Centre, back and front: burns victims
Right 2: Buruli ulcer victims.

What a lively bunch!
